Media Success for 42F

Recently the adult uniformed and civilian volunteers of the Air Training Corp’s Norfolk and Suffolk Wing came together, at RAF Marham, for their Annual Training Day. This is a valuable opportunity for the 27 individual Squadron Commanders and their Civilian Committee Chairpersons to be updated with important information and allows the volunteers to network with their peers. The day is also the AGM for the Wing Civilian Committee and also the occasion at which awards are presented.
The day began with a welcome from Wing Commander David Miller – Officer Commanding Norfolk & Suffolk Wing. This was followed by a number of presentations which included those of the Wing Staff team, representatives from Region and Special guests including, Wing Commander Butcher (OC 617 Squadron) and Wing Commander Prenderghast (OC Ops) from RAF Marham.
The light relief for the day was the presentation of awards by Wing Commanders Butcher and Prenderghast to the individual Squadrons for a number of activities that included Marksmanship, First Aid, Aircraft Recognition, Media and Sport. Other awards were for Best Norfolk & Suffolk Wing Cadet, Most Improved Squadron and Best Growth in Squadron Numbers.
Winning the Media Cup was 42F (King’s Lynn) Squadron for its efforts in promoting the Air Cadet organisation through the press and other media. Receiving the cup from Wg Cdr Prenderghast 42F’s Civilian Committee Chairman Mike Lister, who also happens to be the Squadron’s Media Officer, said “It’s important that we do all we can to showcase the fantastic opportunities that are available to our young people by joining the cadets. Not only can it give them adventure but can open up so many adult career avenues”.
