When Squadron staff from 2286 (Arden) Squadron saw adverts online for a Cupcake Day for Alzheimers they were a little disappointed that the day chosen by the Alzheimer Society didn’t fit in with the Squadron’s hectic programme.
However, as is usual, the Squadron couldn’t let a good idea go, so it was decided to do it a couple of weeks later with the Squadron’s own take on it; The Food Networks Cupcake Wars.
Cue cupcakes, icing, sprinkes, much merriment, much mess and a donation to the Alzheimers Society. The winning flight included a cupcake that much impressed the judges, being a hamburger.
The cadets got to show their creative sides with themes such as the Royal Air Force Air Cadets and a free choice round.
The night was great fun and the cadets are proud to support such an important cause. One in 14 people over the age of 65 and more than 42000 people under 65 suffer from this condition.
The Alzheimer Society’s money goes towards both research and practical help.
