On Saturday 14th January, three members of 1360 (Stapleford and Sandiacre) Squadron travelled to RAF Wyton near Peterborough, to develop their skills to take on the role of Media and Communications Officer (MCO).

One of the main points of the course is to expand their horizons and learn about the challenges that the MCO faces and what is expected of them. The course talked about various enthusing topics, from press release writing, to how to get the local community more involved with the whereabouts and events of the squadron.

A variety of Regional Staff spoke on these important topics and gave personal insight as well as illustrating their own experiences and stories from their roles.

Throughout the day, the group worked through a range of material, culminating in the opportunity to write their own press release to be reviewed by the directing staff.

The day was thoroughly enjoyable and many participants went away enlightened, ready to perform well in their new roles.

“This has been one of the more enjoyable courses I’ve been on as all of the information was very detailed and relevant. It was interesting to see another perspective on websites, as this is an area in which I have particular specialism for”, commented CI Stuart McPherson (20) .
