Best Foot Forward for Wellingborough Air Cadets

Air Cadets from 378 (Mannock) Squadron, Air Training Corps, turned out on Friday and Saturday last week (13 and 14 May) to support Wellingborough’s International Waendel Walk. The popular local event, which welcomes over 5,000 walkers from far and wide, is a highlight of the Squadron’s calendar and this year saw the cadets taking part in the opening ceremonies as well as the walk itself.

Flying Officer Phil Warr, the Squadron’s Officer in Charge, led the cadets across a 16 mile route, which included various places of interest and villages in and around the unit’s home town itself.

On reaching the finish line with the youngsters in tow, Phil said: “I’m immensely proud of all the cadets for taking part in the walk today and my thanks go out to all of our supporting adult volunteers.

“We’ve had a great turnout once again, enjoyed some excellent weather for the occasion and the cadets have had a fantastic response from the organisers and members of the public.”
