CyberFirst Advanced course for Region’s Cadets

16 Cadets from across Central and East have successfully completed the CyberFirst Advanced course held at No1 Radio School, RAF Cosford.

Cadets undertook training from specialist industry instructors covering content from encryption and cyber security to open source intelligence, digital forensics and penetration testing.

Spread over 5 full days, the cadets training concluded with a capture the flag competition where teams competed against each other to complete the most amount of online labs showing off their skills learnt through the week.

On the last day, Gp Cpt Khan, as the HQ lead for Cyberspace development, was the Cadets’ reviewing officer as they graduated their course. We were also pleased to be joined by Mr Phil Williams, who awarded the AFCET Academic Trust Prize to the top cadet, FS Oliver Wright of 2196 (Long Eaton) Squadron.

CWO Brackley of 460 (Dunstable) Squadron said “the course was incredibly eye-opening and rewarding for me and the other cadets. The skills we have learnt here, from the maths behind how encryption works to how to keep devices secure, will be useful now and in the future when looking for careers both in and out of the cyber sector.”

Well done to all the cadets that attended and now are entitled to wear their gold cyber badges.
