Tree Golden Buzzers Awarded
The Central & East Region’s search for talent continued on Sunday with Talented cadets from Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire Wing putting themselves in front of an invisible panel of judges.
Eight cadets represented of the Wing and gave their all in pursuit of the two places available for the Final Showdown in a few weeks time.
The whole show was hosted by the Region’s Warrant Officer, Mr Mike Webb, courtesy of the excellent resource of Microsoft Teams. A panel of judges was formed from Regional staff with the addition of special Guest, Wing Commander Tony Wright, Officer Commanding Trent Wing, and selected staff and cadets from the participating wing.
The talent on display was of the highest calibre, and the performances greatly impressed the panel of judges. Three of the performances impressed so much that they earned “The Golden Buzzers”.
Wing Commander Wright gave his Golden Buzzer Award to Cadet Spencer Kane for an inspired rendition on his electric guitar of a well known Iron Maiden number. Spencer is a cadet at 2524 (Oakington) Squadron
Hailing from 1220 (March) Squadron, Cadet Corporal Isabel Stimson delivered a beautifully sung number giving a superb, well rehearsed and confident performance that earned Warrant Offcer Webb’s Golden Buzzer.
The third performance to achieve this prestigious accolade, this time from Squadron Leader Carol Haynes, was Cadet Corporal Isabelle Yung who sang her song with passion and maturity. The cadets of 2065 (Biggleswade) Squadron will be rightly proud of this performance.
After the points had been totalled, the results from the viewing audience gave the first place for this week to Cadet Elanor Spinks from 511 (Ramsey) Squadron with a wonderfully deliverd song accompanying herself on the piano.
The remaining place for the final was awarded to Cadet Freya Cushman with another well rehearsed and delivered song. Freya was representing 2331 (St Ives) Squadron.
Next Sunday is the turn of Trent Wing to impress with their talented cadets (or staff). Wing Commander Wright, as Officer Commanding Trent Wing and one of the judges this week commented; “ Beds and Cambs Wing have really set a very high standard from their wing’s pool of extremely talented cadets. It will be hard act to follow but I am sure the cadets of Trent Wing will rise to the challenge. Well done Beds and Cambs on an excellent show. Thoroughly enjoyed it”
