Central & East – Corps Swimming Champions

We are the Champions

Central & East Region were crowned Corps Swimming Champs after winning all the classes, a feat not achieved for many years.

The email from the Region Sports Officer, Squadron Leader Michelle Worsnop, quoted below, said it all:

“ It was a total whitewash by Central and East, winning all four class trophies and the overall winner’s Trophy.  We had some phenomenal swimmers, we won races by a length, won some on the touch and lost some on the touch.  It was just an outstanding display of swimming and team work.

Unfortunately we only had four senior girl swimmers due to two droppin out on Friday and one cadet, Cadet Flight Sergeant Skye Blades, stepping in at short notice on Friday morning, but they were the “Fantastic Four”.  Cadet Sergeant Lucy Chapple of Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire Wing also stepped up to volunteer on the Saturday morning of the competition to do the breaststroke event so that all the individual ones were covered.

As you can imagine I had a sore throat on Sat from all the cheering!!!

Small Trophy – Big Win

Thank you to all the staff who came to support and help (Heather Pateman and Jenny Fletcher), the supporters, parents, ASA Officials – WO Ben Banham, Mrs Jo Banham, Mr Paul Kendall, Mrs Jackie Kendall and Mrs Kathryne Tilley and to the team coach – Mr Tim Millett.  Finally a big thanks to all the cadets who got up very early on a horrendously bad weather day on Saturday to compete – Central and East couldn’t have done it without you”.
