Central & East Swimmers Achieve a  Marvellous Second

An unusually warm and sunny February Saturday greeted competitors taking part in the Air Training Corps National Swimming Championships at the Meridian Leisure Centre, Louth, Lincolnshire.

The outside warmth could not be compared to the heat of competition in the pool as the Corps six Regions battled it out to be crowned the Corps Swimming Champions 2019.

The best swimmers from Central and East Region were out in force battling hard to achieve a good showing at the championships, and, at the end of the gruelling day, the team managed a creditable and hard won second place.

Along the way to this placing, the team were rewarded with several individual trophies and through their consistency throughout the day, their point tally gave the runner up slot.

The Region Sports Officer, Squadron Leader Michelle Worsnop praised the team for their hard work and commitment.  She also thanked the staff at all levels who pulled together to ensure that on the day the strongest team was available and arrived at the pool determined to pull as a team and do well.

The Commandant Air Cadets, Air Commodore Dawn McCafferty CBE, watched the proceedings with a keen eye and was on hand present the trophies at the closure of the competition.  The Air Commodore reminded all that took part, regardless of their result, were deemed to be the best swimmers out of an organisation of over 30,000 cadets.
