During September and October Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s(DofE) Award Expeditions have been run by the Hertfordshire & Buckinghamshire Wing DofE Team.
In total 23 Cadets have completed Practice Expeditions and 25 Cadets have completed Qualifying Expeditions.
Flight Lieutenant Martyn Dawson RAFVR(T) Deputy Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Officer for the Wing said “This has been a great achievement by the cadets, these Expeditions have been aimed mainly at assisting units who don’t have any qualified staff so the cadets were in most cases working with strangers, they have bonded really well and I’ve been impressed with the team work on display”.
Cadet Corporal Tom Hall from 936 Squadron said “I really enjoyed getting my Expedition Section complete, it’s the only element of my Award I had left to do and now it’s done I can’t wait to get started on my Silver.”
The Expedition element consists of one quarter of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, the cadets will also need to have spent a number of months, doing a skill, working on physical fitness and also carrying out volunteering. The DofE is the world’s leading youth achievement award, giving millions of 14 to 24-year-olds the opportunity to be the very best they can be.
