Air Cadets Feel the Force

Air cadets from the 115 (Peterborough) Squadron had a blast supporting the Feel the Force convention that took place on Saturday 30th September at the KingsGate Conference Centre in Peterborough.

Air cadets from both the 115 (Peterborough) Squadron, based on Saville Road, and 2331 (St Ives) Squadron at RAF Wyton, banded together to bring as much support and enthusiasm to the Feel the Force day as they could.

The day entailed setting up displays, stewarding both in car parks and around the conference centre, as well as providing a general helping hand wherever it was needed. Cadets then had the chance to talk to special celebrity guests who attended the convention and enjoy the displays themselves during their breaks.
Cadets made both squadrons proud by providing support to disabled guests that required specialised attention and took the time to take those guests around the convention, making their experience even more welcoming and enjoyable.
The Feel the Force day provides an alternative TV and film convention with the ease of accessibility for disabled people in mind. The event organisers understood the difficulty of going to conventions that are not able to allow full access to the subject they promote, so the Feel the Force day was founded in 2013 to tackle that gap in the market and provide an interactive convention, fully accessible for all to enjoy.
Civilian Instructor George Hodgkin found that; ‘it was good to see the event organisers catering for everybody, especially to the disadvantaged who can’t always experience the full extent of exhibits as others are able to do. He was also very impressed with the number of cadets from both squadrons who took part and worked together to support the event organisers any way they could in making a successful event.’
