The event concluded with a parade to commemorate the 100 years of the Royal Flying Corps and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque remembering all those who served at the air base from 71 Sqn of the RAF manned by Volunteer Pilots of the United States Air Force during the Second World War.

Cadet Flight Sergeant Piia Gubbins said “the highlight of the weekend has been watching the Red Devils parachute into the arena and the Spitfire and Hurricane fly over head”.

Flying Officer John Kay – Officer Commanding 432 Woodbridge Squadron Air Training Corps said, “It’s been a great weekend and a pleasure for the Cadets, from all four Squadrons, to support this event, help raise money for the local charities and to learn a little bit more about the history behind the RAF stationed at Martlesham Heath. It was an honour to take the Salute from the Red Devils after their parachute display into the arena, who help to support fund raising events all over the UK and promote the Parachute Regiment of the British Army”.
