In view of the exceptional commitment made by Flight Lieutenant Ruth Morgan,
she was nominated for and was granted a Commandant’s Commendation.
Ruth was presented with the award by Wing Commander Andy Pass at the South and East Midlands Wing’s recent Annual Band Field Day competition
Flt Lt Morgan began her career with the ACO in 1994 when she joined 1211 Swadlincote Sqn as a cadet, rising through the ranks to become Cadet Warrant Officer. University studies took her away from the Unit but she continued her service with Aberystwyth Squadron.

Flt Lt Morgan began her career with the ACO in 1994 when she joined 1211 Swadlincote Squadron as a cadet, rising through the ranks to become Cadet Warrant Officer. University studies took her away from the Unit but she continued her service with Aberystwyth Squadron.
“Returning to 1211 in 2002 Flt Lt Morgan soon made the transition to the RAFVR (T), her dedication, commitment and enthusiasm for the ACO beyond question. Flt Lt Morgan’s main squadron role is that of adjutant and she performs this role to impeccably high standards on one of the biggest squadrons within the Corps. In addition she is also responsible BTEC studies undertaken by the squadron in Aviation Studies and Public Services. In the past two years they have achieved forty awards with more in the pipeline. Not content with her squadron roles, Flt Lt Morgan remains extremely active as a key member of the IACE Team undertaking the role of Camp Adjutant for the London phase of the programme.
Since 2011 Flt Lt Morgan has been a member of the Wing Cadet Development Team, initially joining as a member of the directing staff team and two years later progressing to course director of the Methods of Instruction Course (MOI). As course director Flt Lt Morgan leads a team of five directing staff, providing support and guidance to them in order to ensure that the highest quality training experience is delivered to students on every course. This additional commitment delivers training to over 80 cadets per year with a minimum of five full days of course delivery. Flt Lt Morgan supports all dates in the course calendar and has helped over 400 cadets obtain their MOI qualification within South & East Midlands Wing.
To aid this delivery Flt Lt Morgan has derived and produced a detailed student handbook for the course to enhance the learning experience of the students. It also acts as a reference text for the students when back at their squadrons. Demonstrating her continued determination to deliver, she has also redeveloped the primary training resource for the course so as to better meet the needs of the students and to enable a deeper and more meaningful understanding of the content”.
