Senior Football Champions, Runners up in the Hockey

IMG_4718In unseasonally warm and sunny conditions, the Central and East Region Senior Football Team saw off stiff competitions to win the RAF Air Cadets championships at RAF Cranwell.

After battling through the preliminary rounds, the team won through to the final where they faced the might of North region.

A thrilling end to end match was decided by the one goal in favour of Central and East.

After scoring immediately after half time, Central and East continued to attack the North’s goal whilst stoutly defending their slender lead.

IMG_4744Team Captain, Cadet Warrant Officer Tommy Dade, playing in his fourth championships said; “Fantastic, the team played brilliantly and everyone played their part. A great team effort and its a great way to end my cadet football career”.

Tommy, from 222 (Broadlands) Squadron, Norfolk and Suffolk Wing, “Times Out” this year.

To cap this great day for the Region, the Senior Hockey Team fought hard and consistently to achieve a magnificent second place in their championship matches.

Again, it was a valiant team effort that saw the ladies pipped at the post in this strongly competitive competition.IMG_4648

Well done to both teams and a huge thanks to all the supporting staff that ensured the teams were at full strength.
