Newmarket Air Cadets Take to the Skies.

On a recent Saturday morning four Cadets from 2417 (Newmarket) Squadron, Air Cadets, took to the skies for their first Air Experience flight with 7AEF at RAF College Cranwell.
After an early start each cadet took their turn to step into the Cockpit of the Grob Tutor training aircraft sitting alongside a highly experienced pilot. Once the pre-take off check weres completed the aircraft took to the skies. Once airborne the pilot explained and demonstrated the controls of the aircraft before allowing the cadet to take control.
The cadets start by keeping the aircraft in straight and level flight before moving on to basic turns. Putting what they had learnt in there airmanship and principle of flight lessons in to practice. After their initial flight Cadets with more experience cadets can the thrill of aerobatics.
Cadet Erin Smith enthused; “I really enjoyed my first flight, getting to take control of the aircraft for the first time. I cannot wait for my next Air Experience Flight so I can experience some Aerobatics”
The Officer in Charge, Flying Officer Ian Griffiths observed; “It was great to see how much the cadets enjoyed their first experience flight, reinforcing the theory they learnt on the ground. ”
