Cadets See Surge to Join after Armed Forces Weekend

A Squadron of RAF Air Cadets has seen applications to join their ranks surge in recent weeks, following on from the success of the Armed Forces Day national event, held in Cleethorpes in June.
195 (Grimsby) Squadron are now facing a recruitment overload, following a sign-up rate of 65 new cadets.
Sergeant Lewis Barron, Initial Cadet Training Flight and Recruitment Officer, said: “We are thrilled at the response we’ve had from the public. Our recruitment drive has simply rocketed.
“Normally we would expect about 20 to 25 cadets, but after Armed Forces Day we have been inundated with applications.
“We are now working through the applications, and are in discussions with colleagues to consider running two Training Flights in tandem, and continue to welcome further applicants.”
