Cadet Shaquille Bartley of Wellingborough’s 378 (Mannock) Squadron, Air Training Corps, had a surprise visit by members of Wellingborough Police’s Safer Communities Team who visited to thank him for his actions at a road traffic collision in the town earlier in the day.
Police Community Support Officers Chris Asante and Phil Dobson dropped in to the Squadron Headquarters to praise Shaquille on his quick thinking and assistance to the victims of the accident, offering support to those involved and ensuring the scene was safe until the emergency services arrived.
Flight Lieutenant James Broadhurst, 378 Squadron’s Acting Officer in Charge, said: “We have a good deal of reason to be proud of our cadets at Mannock Squadron, although Shaquille’s actions today deserve special praise.
“Demonstrating a real community minded spirit and a level headedness beyond his years, Shaquille has helped others in need and is a credit to our Squadron.
“My thanks go out to Chris and Phil from the Safer Communities Team for taking the time out to come and thank Shaquille personally this evening”.
