Cadet Flies in for Torch Relay Event

Budding aviator, Bohdan Mandziuk really put the ‘Air’ in Air Cadet when he flew into Bruntingthorpe to take part in one of the Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing’s 75th Anniversary Torch Relay events.

W&B Torch121_IMG_8302 (1)Nuneaton based Royal Air Force Air Cadet Bohdan Mandziuk was one team of the cadets who recently converged on the Leicestershire airfield to take part in the 75th Anniversary Torch Relay, Lightening Pull.

Cadet Mandziuk had informed his Commanding Officer that he would not be traveling with the Squadron and would be making his own way to Bruntingthorpe. Nothing to unusual in any cadet making their own way to an event, however, Bohdan had chosen a more than impressive way to arrive.

Bohdan currently undergoing training for his Private Pilot’s License (PPL) made a spectacular entrance as he flew into Bruntingthorpe in a Piper PA-28-161 Warrior II and made his way across the airfield to join his fellow cadets for the Lightening Pull.

Flight Lieutenant Paul Hincks, Officer Commanding 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron said, “When Bohdan first told me he was making his own way to Bruntingthorpe I wasn’t expecting him to fly in, but we were really thrilled by the thought that one of our cadets was most definitely going to put the Air in Air Cadet for the final part of the Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing’s section of the 75th Anniversary Torch Relay.”
