Cadet Flight Sergeant Georgia Brinkley has recently spent a week at Bramley Lakes in Norwich on a leadership and personal development course. The participants came from a variety of organisations including students from the Arkwright Scholarship Scheme, Girls Venture Corps and the Air Training Corps. The centre provides a variety of leadership, personal development and team building courses aimed to develop individual’s abilities by utilising their personal values.
The activities throughout the week were challenging, but designed to test the individuals both physically and mentally. This included various leadership exercises, hiking and a canoeing expedition which went from Bramley Lakes, across the Broads to the RAF Radar Museum where they camped overnight in bivvies. On the last day of the course the participants were able to enjoy the zip line, segways and low ropes course before heading home.
Aside from the excellent but challenging activities, there was an engineering and technical focus to the week which gave the participants the opportunity to meet RAF Careers staff, engineers from both the civilian and military worlds as well as talks by students of the Defence Technical Undergraduate Scheme.
Georgia had the following to say on her week in Norfolk, ‘It was a really good course, the activities across the week were both challenging and enjoyable. I met some great people from across the country all with similar career aspirations’.
