At a recent meeting of the Immingham Town Council Cadet Katie Hancock of 866(Immingham) Squadron was elected to be the new Mayor’s Cadet This year the new Mayor is Councillor Stewart Swinburn and Katie will be his official cadet who will accompany him to various duties throughout his term of office.
The appointment is shared between the Sea, Army and Air cadets and is appointed in rotation. This year it was the turn of 866(Immingham) Squadron and Katie was the selected cadet.
At the Squadron’s annual awards evening earlier this year she received the Best New Recruit of the Year Award as reward for all her hard work and achievements throughout her first year in the Squadron. Katie is smart, enthusiastic and participates in almost all activities that she can. She has just gained a place in one of the Squadron’s shooting teams, taken part in the Wing athletics and also attended the Windermere camp. Katie is certainly not shy in coming forward and will put maximum effort into her appointment. Katie is proud of being chosen for this prestigious position and we can rest assured that she will be a great ambassador not only for the Mayor but also 866 Squadron, Wing and the Corps.
