Pulling Together

On Thursday 12th May cadets from 42F (King’s Lynn) Squadron and 1094 (Ely) Squadron took part in a tug of war with a difference.

A team of cadets and staff of the Squadrons pulled a Tornado GR4 aircraft down part of the runway at RAF Marham in Norfolk on a beautiful evening.

The RAF Tornado weighing in at 13,890kg was pulled by a team of cadets and staff from the runway threshold as fast as they could. Both teams did a fantastic job with 1094 (Ely) Squadron coming in 1 minute faster than 42F (Kings Lynn) Squadron. Unfortunately the aircraft did not assist with minimal taxi power to make it easier!
To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Duke of Edinburgh’s scheme they have setup the “Diamond Challenge” in which a once in a life time opportunity which takes you and your team out of your comfort zone should be taken on. 1094 (Ely) Squadron has chosen the Tornado pull for our challenge.

Your donation will make a real difference to the thousands of young people who want to do their DofE, many facing disadvantage. We subsidise every young person that signs up to ensure that the cost we pass on to our partner schools and centres are kept to a minimum. https://www.justgiving.com/tornadopull.
