Central & East Region retained the Terry Eyre Trophy for Best Sports Region – a trophy that they have won 15 years’ in a row – every year since the trophy was first introduced. Regional Sports Officer, Squadron Leader Kevin Bunn RAFVR(T), received the award from Group Captain Lewis thanking his team of staff and the great efforts put in by the cadets.

The male sports cadet of the year is 18 year old Cadet Sergeant Tom Dade from 222 (Broadlands) Squadron, Norfolk & Suffolk Wing who received his award from the new Commandant of London & South East Region, Group Captain Al Lewis RAFR.  Tom has represented the ATC in Soccer and, additionally, his Region in Athletics, Rugby, and Cross Country running.  He was very pleased to win as “there are many cadets out there of great sporting quality”.  He now hopes to try and retain the trophy next year.

Winner of the Female Sports Cadet was 18 year old Cadet Corporal Bronwyn Jacobs from 863 (Thurston) Squadron, also Norfolk & Suffolk Wing. She was unable to attend the Cranwell presentation as she was away at an athletics meet but as well as competing she is a respected coach for her fellow cadets and outside the ATC.
