Posting Out Success

Ready for posting to the cadets

Many West Bridgford Air Cadets will be receiving a welcome surprise in the mail as the squadron sends out well deserved badges in the post.

Nearly 90 badges signifying a range of qualifications gained by cadets of 209 (West Bridgford) Squadron, Royal Air Force Air Cadets, have been dispatched to 51 cadets.

The qualifications had been worked for and gained prior to the current Lockdown and were due to be presented at an Enrolment and Awards Evening that unfortunately had to be cancelled.  The awards ranged across the spectrum of qualification that Air Cadets can gain, First Class Cadet badges, Young First Aider, Radio to name but a few.

“Although we are in Lockdown and unable to hold our normal parades, the squadron is still very much functioning, like many other squadrons we are reliant upon technology but our Virtual Parades are hugely successful and are ensuring engagement through these difficult times.  The arrival of all these badges presented a problem but we decided to post them out to the cadets so they can get them onto their uniforms.  I am immensely proud of both the staff and cadets for their spirit during these trying times, 209 doing fine!” said Flight Lieutenant Jade Waring, the squadron’s Commanding Officer.
