Celebrating ATC Sunday

Around sixty RAF Air Cadets joined the regular congregation at St Lawrence’s Church, Long Eaton, Derbyshire, to celebrate the anniversary of the formation of the Air Training Corps.

The cadets from 2195 (Long Eaton) Squadron were joined by cadets from from neighbouring 1360 (Stapleford & Sandiacre) Squadron in a service led by  Assistant Curate and the Long Eaton squadron Padre, Father Giles Orton.

Cadets were given the honour of delivering the Readings and led the prayers, all of which were carried out with confidence and clarity.

ATC Sunday, as the occasion is called, celebrates the formation of the Air Training Corps in February 1941 and Air Cadets throughout the United Kingdom will be attending similar services or parading  in the communities of the cities, towns and villages they are part of.

The Banners of the two squadrons were joined by the Standard of the Erewash Branch of the Royal Air Forces Association.
