This year, 17 (Coningsby) Squadron, Air Training Corps, were awarded the Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire’s Poppy Appeal Trophy for Uniformed Cadet Units.
The trophy was presented to them by Wing Commander W S (Simon) Erskine Crum OBE. It is awarded in recognition for work carried out in support of the Poppy Appeal. 17 Squadron beat not only all the other Air Cadet units in Lincolnshire, but the Army and Sea Cadets too.
17 Squadron’s Officer in Charge (OiC) Flying Officer Andrea Nash said, “I am so pleased for our cadets. They work hard, year in year out, and in particular when it comes to collecting for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and being recognised in such a way is a tremendous accolade for the cadets”. Civilian Instructor Malcolm Emsden added, “This is an amazing achievement, both the cadets and staff should all be very proud”.
