All round competitive sportsman, sporting mentor and school Sporting Ambassador, Cadet Warrant Officer Alec Stewart has been voted Central & East Region Male Sports Cadet of the Year.
Alec, a cadet with 47F (Grantham) Squadron, has represented his squadron, Trent Wing and Central & East Region at various sports and athletic competition.
Having gained sporting qualifications in differing fields, Alec has become a great benefit to the Squadron’s Sports Officer and an inspiration and mentor to the cadets. Ha has used his knowledge and skills to teach cadets the finer points of Badminton (Alec holds a Badminton England Coaching qualifications) and has helped the squadron and the wing with their swimming prowess, Alec being a Qualified Lifeguard. Football. rugby, and hockey are also disciplines that the Cadet Warrant Officer excels in and he provides encouragement and training to support others.
This year Alec has gained a double Distinction Star in B Tech Level 3 Diploma in Sport to add to his other qualifications and is studying for a degree on Sports Coaching and Development.
Taekwondo (black Belt) and Judo (Red Belt) are among his other interests as well as Shotgun Sports.
An all round athlete who is willing and able to share his skills and knowledge with others. A deserving winner of the accolade, Region Male Sports Cadet of the Year.
Alec said; “I am extremely honoured and proud to receive this award. It is a massive achievement to be the male sports cadet of the year for the region, but I think it means even more this time as I won it last year as well. Winning it twice in a row is one of the greatest achievements within my Air Training Corps career. As I want to pursue a career in the Sports Industry this will stand me in good stead for my future”.
Cadet Warrant Officer Stewart is his School Sport Ambassador, Sports Leader and School Team Captain. He has recently returned from a school football team tour of Barcelona .
