After an exciting tournament at RAF Cranwell’s Gymnasium, the Central & East Region’s junior girls netball team emerged as Corps Champions.
The Team won all three of their matches against teams from Wales & West, North and London & South East Regions in thrilling, fast moving matches.
Having never played together, the girls struggled in the first half of their first match ending the half 6 to 3 down. The second half saw the players begin to gel and with excellent team work turned the match around to defeat Wales and West with a score of 9 to 8.
This team work continued throughout their match with London and South East Region defeating them with an emphatic 14 to 2 scoreline.
The last match for the team against North Region was set to decide the outcome and Central & East rose to the challenge playing as a well oiled team to run out as victors with a score of 13 to 7.
Team Captain, Cadet Corporal Chelsea Iwunze, from 504 (West Nottingham) Squadron, South & East Midlands Wing, was full of praise for the team; “they were magnificent, after a jittery start as we all got to know how each other played, we got it all together and it was fantastic to run out as champions”
