Haverhill Air Cadets Makes Waves Winning Swimming Competition


 

In the evening of Saturday 8 September seven cadets from 1451 (Haverhill) Squadron, Air Training Corps, competed against 30 other Squadrons within Bedfordshire & Cambridgeshire Wing in an Inter-Squadron Swimming Competition.

Cader Sergeant Amelia Cornell won Silver in Senior Girls Backstroke, Cadet Simran Rai won Silver in Senior Girls Breaststroke and Bronze in Senior Girls Butterfly, Cadet Emma Foulkes won Gold in Junior Girls Breaststroke and Bronze in Junior Girls Freestyle. Finally, Cadet Harry White won Silver in Junior Boys Breast Stroke, Bronze in Junior Boys Freestyle and Bronze in Junior Boys Individual Medley.

With all those above, the Squadron achieved a record medal haul for the Squadron – 4 Bronze, 3 Silver and 1 Gold. With that the Squadron also achieved 2nd Overall in Junior Boys, 3rd Overall in Junior Girls, 1st Overall in Senior Girls, 2nd Overall Girls and 1st Overall for the Competition.

The Officer in Command Flying Officer Nathan Young RAF Air Cadets said “I’m incredibly proud of what my cadets have achieved this evening! A young team, first competition for most, and they have placed in every age category we competed in AND won the overall competition! Taking home, the brand-new trophy.”
