An RAF Air Cadet from 1365 (Aylesbury) Squadron has been selected to accompany Councillor Mark Willis, the Mayor of Aylesbury, during his Mayoral year.
Every year, each Cadet Organisation in the town is asked to nominate an individual it feels can represent them alongside the Mayor. This year the lucky nominee was RAF Air Cadet Corporal Joe McNicholas.
The citation, written by Civilian Instructor P Still, Training Officer at 1365 (Aylesbury) Squadron read as follows:
“Cadet Corporal Joe McNicholas joined the Air Training Corps in 2016. He is a very motivated young man who carries out his duties without any hesitation or complaint, always looking for ways to improve the squadron or help others.
His level of dress and discipline are exemplary, and he maintains a high standard of drill, setting a good example for his peers.
Joe can be relied on to volunteer for most activities, representing the squadron at Wing Cross Country, the annual Wing Exercise, Wing Field Day, Remembrance Day Parade, Wing Swimming, and the Battle of Britain Parade. He is a very active member of the squadron and in his duties as a Corporal; assists looking after our junior flight, runs the Radio Control Project and teaches when required, often with very little notice.
He is an excellent ambassador for the Squadron and the Core; he interacts very well with his peers and is a good communicator at all levels – the staff, his peers and junior cadets.
We are very pleased to nominate Joe for this role, we believe he would be a great asset to the Mayor and would represent him very professionally in his duties.”
