Cadet Warrant Officer Matthew Osbiston of Stapleford, Nottinghamshire, has been interviewed live on the British Forces Broadcasting Service (BFBS) Sunday radio programme after being nominated “BFBS Cadet of the Week”.
As previously reported, Matthew of 1360 (Stapleford & Sandiacre) Squadron had recently flown solo in a glider after successfully completing his Air Cadet Gliding Scholarship. The Central and East Region Media officer was so impressed with Matthew when interviewed for a press release that he passed on Matthew’s name and “CV” to BFBS with a view to being selected as The Cadet of the Week.
The live telephone interview lasted around ten minutes and Matthew was asked about his Gliding and the other activities he has undertaken with the Air Cadets.
Matthew said that he enjoyed the experience and soon overcame any initial nerves. His Officer Commanding, Flight Lieutenant Jess Kment RAFAC, said; “Matthew never fails to surprise. He is a hard working and confident leader having the trust and respect of both cadets and the staff. A great asset to the Squadron and he well deserved this latest accolade”
