The Royal Air Force ‘Swing Wing’ Band were in concert at the King’s Lynn Corn Exchange on Wednesday 18th April with a performance of exceptional quality. Organised by the King’s Lynn and District Branch of the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA), the concert was to raise funds for the welfare work of the organisation.
As always, 42F (King’s Lynn) Squadron Air Cadets were on hand to meet and greet the concert goers, sell programmes and encourage the purchase of raffle tickets. The proceeds of which has enabled the branch’s fundraising to date for 2018 reach over £6,000.
Unfortunately the venue was not filled to capacity, however those present including the Borough Mayor Councillor Carol Bower and RAF Marham’s Station Commander Group Captain ‘Cab’ Townsend, thoroughly enjoyed a programme of music that skilfully wove its way through the RAF’s 100 years. Band leader Sgt Tom Ringrose was also the Lead Trumpeter. The compere, SAC Michael Howley, not only guided us through the concert but was also a solo singer, along with the band’s vocalist SAC Philippa Hobbs. A most enjoyable evening that has assisted RAFA in its support of RAF Veterans and their wider families.
