Cadets Canine Encounters at Crufts


Crufts 1As part of the Royal Air Force’s RAF 100 celebrations the RAF Police Dog Display Team, over the weekend of 10th / 11th March, featured a working dogs display, in the main arena at the prestigious 2018 Crufts Dog Show at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) Birmingham. In addition they had a display stand within the public exhibition area.

Privileged to be assisting the RAF personnel on Sunday the 10th, both on the stand and in the arena, were cadets from 42F (King’s Lynn) Squadron, Air Training Corps. Cadet Corporal Harry Pink had the honour of carrying 42F’s own Squadron Standard in the arena at the end of the RAF team’s display. The salute was taken by Air Vice Marshal David Cooper, CBE MA BEng (HONS) RAF.

Crufts 4The King’s Lynn Squadron cadets, Cdt Cpl Harry Pink (17yrs), Cdt Cpl Erin McGonigle (15yrs), Cdt Aaron Runyard (14yrs) and Cdt Bailey Naish (14yrs) were accompanied by their Squadron Commander, Flight Lieutenant Pauline Petch, who said “The cadets all agreed this has been a great day. It has been an honour for us to be asked to support the Royal Air Force and their brilliant dogs. We also gained some further knowledge about the role these dogs play within the service”.
