New Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for Rutland

Cadet Sergeant Yasmin Makinde of 2248 (Rutland) Squadron has been selected as this year’s Lord Lieutenant’s cadet for Rutland. During a ceremony at the Cadet Centre in Oakham the Lord Lieutenant, Dr Laurence Howard, formally appointed Sgt Makinde as one of his cadets.
As part of her duties, Yasmin will accompany the Lord Lieutenant on events throughout the county and act as an ambassador for the Air Cadets.
Yasmin, who is 17 years, joined the squadron at the age of 13 years. She has obtained a BTEC in Leadership & Teamwork, holds a Bronze D of E Award and has nearly completed the Silver award. This year she completed the 100th Nijmegen March in Holland. She is currently studying at Brooksby Melton College and is hoping to go on to study Business at University. After the presentation Yasmin said she was –“Delighted to be chosen for this prestige award, and looked forward to working with Dr Howard
