Long Eaton Air Cadets Wing Field Day champions again!

The Impossible made possible!
Last Sunday saw 2195 (Long Eaton) Squadron make the impossible possible as they were the first ever squadron to win Wing Field Day two years in a row.
Wing Field Day saw hundreds of AIR CAdets gather, from all the squadrons in South and East Midlands Wing, at the windy RAF Wittering to compete at South and East Midlands Wing Field Day 2016. All the coaches arrived, at an early start of 8 am, with cadets buzzing and eager to show their skills in the competition.
At Wing Field Day the squadrons compete in several categories: Shooting, Drill, Banner Drill, Modelling, Media, First Aid, Diorama, Padre’s Cup and Air Recognition. The aim of the Wing Field Day, held at RAF Wittering every year, is to create an incentive to achieve high levels of training in standard Squadron activities, by encouraging a spirit of competition on a Wing level.
This year the competition was harder than ever but this did not stop Long Eaton Squadron becoming the reigning champions.
Long Eaton Squadron came in the top ten in every category coming: 9th in Shooting, 5th in Drill, 5th in Banner Drill, 10th in First Aid, 4th in Aircraft Recognition, 3rd in Media, 6th in Diorama and 8th in Padre’s Cup. The results showing that the Squadron is consistently high performance across the board. Well Done Everyone!
The squadron look forward to Wing Field Day 2017 to see if they can make it a new record by aiming for 3 years in a row!
Cadet Joan Fowodu said, “It’s brilliant that we won again; especially as it is my second year that I have participated in Wing Field Day. Also, to see that our work has paid off and to be the first squadron to win it two years in a row.”
