On Sunday 3rd July 386 cadets and 87 adult staff of the Air Training Corps (ATC) Norfolk & Suffolk Wing, assembled for their 75th Anniversary Parade and Service of Thanksgiving at Norwich Cathedral.
At 1pm to the beat of a corps of drums, impeccably turned out in their light blue uniforms, the cadets representing each of the Wing’s 29 Squadrons marched into the Cathedral Close to be formally inspected by the Central and East Region ATC’s Regional Commandant Group Captain Nigel Gorman. During the inspection he spoke with several of the cadets and appeared to be thoroughly enjoying his interaction with them.
The Group Captain then took to the saluting dais as, led by the Wing Commanding Officer, Wing Commander David Miller MBE, the Wing’s Commanding Officer the cadets marched off for the Parade Service in the cathedral.
Other guests of honour on the day were: Group Captain Davies, Station Commander at RAF Marham; Colonel Torkelson, RAF Mildenhall; Colonel Maginniss, Cadet Commandant Norfolk Army Cadet Corps; Colonel Allen, Deputy Chief Executive of Reserve Forces Cadet Association (RFCA); Mr Ward, Deputy Chairman of Norfolk County Council; Mr Spence, Chairman of Suffolk County Council and Mr Britzen from the Norfolk Fire Service.
The service commenced with a welcome by The Reverend Canon Ron Tuck the Wing Chaplain. The sermon was given by The Right Reverend Graham James the Lord Bishop of Norwich.
