Media Training Completed


 

Eleven Candidates from across Central and East Region attended the Region Media Training
Course at RAF Wyton last Sunday.

Open to all Staff, Civilian Committee members, Padres and the older cadets, the course aims to provide the building block to enable those appointed as Squadron Media and Communication Officers (SMCOs) to perform effectively.
Amongst items covered were the role of the SMCO, Photography, Press Release writing, Social Media and Crisis Management.

The Course Staff, volunteers themselves, have a depth of knowledge in the subject of Air Cadet media, Flight Lieutenant Ben Wilkinson is Officer Commanding St Albans Squadron, has been the Wing MCO (WMCO) for Herefordshire and Buckinghamshire Wing as well as acting as Deputy to the Regional MCO and is a professional journalist currently employed as a Government Press Advisor. Squadron Leader Maggie Bell has also been a Squadron Commander and WMCO and is currently a Project Officer (Media) at Headquarters Air Cadets inaddition to acting as Deputy to the Region MCO. The Regional MCO, Squadron Leader Al Munns makes up the team, Al commanded a squadron, has been the WMCO for South and East Midlands Wing and is also a Project Officer (Media).
At the end of the long day, and having overcome the testing technical difficulties, the candidates were presented with their Attendance Certificates and wished “Good Luck” by the Media Training Team.
