Former Swadlincote Air Cadet Richard becomes Officer at RAF Cranwell


 
1211 PhotoFormer 1211 (Swadlincote) Squadron Air Cadet Richard Gaskell of Newhall recently ‘Passed Out’ with distinction as a Royal Air Force officer at a ceremony in the RAF College at Cranwell.

Now ‘Flying Officer’ Gaskell he is now In holding, waiting to transfer to RAF Wittering in June to start Pilot Training.

As a member of the Swadlincote Air Cadets, Richard rose to the most senior position of Cadet Warrant Officer when the Unit became winners of the Morris Cup as one of the best Squadrons in the Air Training Corps

He received  a 6th Form scholarship at sixteen and attended Loughborough University where he gained a  1st in Computer Science.
