Cadet Flight Sergeant Georgia Brinkley is the first ATC Mayors Cadet for Thetford after an awards Ceremony at the Council Chamber on Tuesday, for outstanding service to 1109 (Thetford) Squadron.
Georgia has achieved great things both within the Air Cadet Organisation and outside, showing what a fantastic role model and representative of the Squadron and Organisation she is. Within the ACO, Georgia has excelled in a variety of areas including representations at Sports and Drill. She has reached the highest academic qualification as well as becoming a qualified instructor. Georgia was the first cadet from the Squadron to attend the Personal Awareness Course, Sports Leaders Award Level 2 and a recent overseas camp to Gibraltar. Georgia is a Flight Commander where she is required develop and lead her junior cadets to ensure they have the ‘Air Cadet Experience’.
Georgia received a Wing Commanders Commendation is July 2015 her demonstrating exemplary conduct at the scene of an accident in Thetford last year, where she assisted a gentleman who was knocked off his bike in a Road Traffic Accident. She used her First Aid skills obtained in the ACO ensuring he received medical support as soon as possible.
Aside from the Air Cadets, Georgia has volunteered with the Riding for Disabled Association for the last two years where she assists with preparing rides and horses for the rink. In addition, she volunteers at St Peters House in Bury St Edmunds which is a home for the elderly with dementia which is part of her Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Georgia said, ‘It was an honour to be selected as one of the three Mayor’s Cadets and I am looking forward to the events in the up and coming year’.
