The RAF Air Cadets of Trent Wing are always keen to support the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund (RAFBF) even when it means taking on their Frostbite Challenge!
On Saturday 13th Feb RAF Air Cadets from Grantham, Boston, Warsop, Brigg, Scunthorpe and Coningsby Squadrons joined forces to support the RAFBF Airfield Anarchy Frostbite event at the former RAF Winthorpe now known as Newark Showground.
Over five hundred people braved the un seasonal mud run, a physically and mentally challenging race around the former airfield, clambering over obstacles, water challenges and physical tasks. As with its name it was not quite frostbite conditions, but the bitter cold and windy day saw the competitors take on the challenges and excel.
The cadets rose to the challenges too, doing a sterling job marshalling the course, manning water stations, and most importantly congratulating the finishers by handing out medals and thermal blankets. The cadets really enjoyed the day, and will be back supporting the summer and slightly warmer version of the event later in the year.
