A former Grimsby air cadet has been promoted to adult staff on the squadron – the second in a month.
Kirsty Hudson, a former cadet Flight Sergeant who spent several years at the squadron participating in camps, sports and other cadet activities, has this week completed an Initial Officer Course, gaining full promotion to the rank of Pilot Officer in the RAF Volunteer Reserve (Training).
This comes on the back of another former local air cadet receiving an adult staff promotion this month – Sergeant Stephen Parry gained his new rank just last week.
Plt Off Hudson spent one week at RAF Cranwell undertaking training in areas such as officer qualities, mess customs and etiquette, drill and ceremonial, leadership and dress regulations.
Flight Lieutenant Terance Shird, Officer Commanding 195 (Grimsby) Squadron, said: “I would like to congratulate Pilot Officer Hudson on her promotion.
“This is a fantastic achievement and I look forward to welcoming her to the staff team once again – this time as an officer in the RAF Air Cadets.”
Pilot Officer Hudson said: “The Initial Officer Course was challenging and intense, but also a lot of fun.
“Not only did I gain a wider understanding of the Corps processes, but I also met a great group of people.
“Going forward, I’m going to keep working with the staff team to continue to offer wonderful opportunities to our cadets.”
