The 75th Celebrated in Norfolk, Suffolk and Beyond


N&S 75 ATC 2 (2)The ATC is celebrating reaching three quarters of a century, and the 29 squadrons based in Norfolk and Suffolk recently gathered among five parades across the two counties (and Gibraltar!)

Wing commander David Miller said: “It was an extremely good turnout of cadets in our region and one that everyone watching was proud to have witnessed what was a fitting start to our 75th anniversary.”

Hundreds of people turned out to watch the services which were held on Sunday 7th February, in Lowestoft, Swaffham, North Walsham, Bury St Edmunds and Felixstowe.

In Lowestoft – around 200 people turned out at St Margaret’s Church where squadrons 221 (Great Yarmouth), 469 (Lowestoft), 759 (Beccles), 1070 (Diss), 1986 (Wymondham) and 2356 (Caister) were all in attendance.

In North Walsham cadets and staff paraded through Farman Avenue to Parish Church, with the parade salute taking place in the market place. Squadrons in attendance were 222 (Broadland), 231 (Norwich), 1249 (Dereham), 1895 (Cromer), 2110 (North Walsham) and 1132 (Stalham).

In Swaffham over 100 cadets and staff paraded from the TA Centre to the Parish church. Squadrons in attendance were 42F(Kings Lynn), 864DF (Marham), 864(Watton), 1018 (Downham Market), 1109 (Thetford), 1894 (Swaffham) and 2534 (Fakenham).

In Felixstowe over 100 cadets and staff paraded through the town centre to St John’s Church. Squadrons in attendance were 188 (Ipswich), 356 (Felixstowe), 432(Woodbridge), 1287 (Wattisham), 1334 (Manningtree) and 1379 (Leiston).

In Bury St Edmunds 150 cadets and staff paraded from Abbey Gardens through to St Marys Church. Squadrons in attendance were 301, 863 (Thurston), 1331(Stowmarket) and 2470 (Sudbury).

In Gibraltar cadets and staff joined with CBF Gibraltar and RAF Gibraltar Station Commander to celebrate in more warmer weather!
