Former Adult Warrant Officer and Civilian Instructor Gerry Duffner has been awarded the Commandants Commendation for Meritorious Service from Air Commodore Dawn McCafferty .

The Award recognises Gerry’s dedication, giving over 30years of service to the cadets and staff of 203 (Gainsborough) Squadron.

Gerry started at the squadron in the 1970s and has made a difference to the lives of hundreds of Gainsborough’s young people. Gerry would be happy to continue to support the unit for even longer, but his retirement has been forced by ill health.

Leaving on a high and saying a fond farewell to the Squadron Gerry was presented his Commendation by former Squadron Commander, Captain Phil Naylor Army Ccadet Force, who transferred to the Army Cadet Force. With current Officer Commanding Flight Lieutenant Katie Hearn and former Officer Commanding Flight Lieutenant Steve Gray present, Gerry was given a fitting send off for his dedicated service to the Air Cadet Organisation and he will be missed by all on the Squadron.
“On behalf of the whole Squadron, past and present, I would like to thank Gerry for his time and dedication to the Squadron, he will certainly be missed, but we wish the best for future”, said Flight Lieutenant Hearn.
