Trainer Training in the Field

nivvy 2 (1)This weekend saw the first South & East Midlands Wing Fieldcraft Instructor’s course, which took place at John’s Lee Wood Scout Campsite, Leicestershire.
The qualification gained on the course, allows staff to deliver fieldcraft instruction to the Air Cadets at their units, and ensures that they are fully trained and up-to-date with the new Fieldcraft policy.
Those in attendance were thankful that it wasn’t the weekend prior to this with the snow and that the weekend was favourably mild in comparison to what it could have been!
The staff had lessons on a range of topics including use of ration packs (new and improved!), bivvy building, day and night movement and observation skills.
The weekend was delivered by the newly formed Wing Fieldcraft Training team and 15 candidates were successful on this weekend, meaning they can go back to their Squadron and deliver fieldcraft training to their cadets.
The next course is planned for the weekend of 18th-20th March at RAF Wittering.
