Santa’s Little Helpers

Cadets from 115 (Peterborough) Squadron have been assisting Christmas Shoppers at Tesco in Hampton, Peterborough on 06th December.
20 cadets from the Squadron, which is based in Saville Road, descended on the tills at Tesco to assist customers pack their early Christmas shopping.
The bag pack was organised in order to raise funds for the squadron which will help purchase vital equipment for activities that the cadets partake in.
The majority of the youngsters who attended the bag pack, will also be using the activity to put towards their community service for the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme, whereby they have to spend a set amount of hours completing service to the community.
Along with existing cadets from the Squadron, there were also newly enrolled cadets who were assisting with the activity and getting exposure to the different types of activities that the cadets get involved in – it’s not all about flying or aviation related subjects!
One of the new recruits, Matthew Hill, aged 13, has just recently joined the squadron and is undergoing his recruit training, attended the event. He ‘had a brilliant time helping the shoppers pack their bags. You get a lot of interest in the air cadets from both the younger and older generations, they are all interested in what we do. I thoroughly enjoyed the event and look forward to doing more activities with the Squadron when I complete my recruit training’.
Cadets and Staff from 115 (Peterborough) Squadron Air Cadets would like to thank both Tesco and their customer’s for their donations and would like to wish them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
