Five Air Cadets from 1401 (Alfreton & Ripley) Squadron, Raoyal Air Force Air Cadets, represented Trent Wing at the Central and East Region, senior girls netball and boys hockey competitions on Sunday 15th November.
It was a fantastic day for the Wing with both the netball and hockey teams winning their respective competitions. The boy’s team were dominant winning all their games and scoring 13 goals and conceding none. The girl’s netball team won 4 out of their 5 games. The level of play, team work and ability from both teams was exceptional.
Cadet Corporal(Cpl) Osborne has represented the Wing for the second time in her cadet career, moving from the junior girl’s netball team in 2014/2015 to the senior girl’s team in 2015/2016. After the competition, Cpl Osborne tried out for the Region team and has once again been selected to represent the Region at the Corps competition at the end of the month.
Cadet Flight Sergeant Slack, Cadet Sergeant Kettell and Cadet Cpl Crofts were new members to the hockey team for the 2015/2016 season, with Cadet Cpl Crofts achieving his first wing representation. The competition was the second time Cadet Cpl Davidson had been part of the Wing hockey team and it was clear his ability has developed since the last time he represented the wing.
Pilot Officer Tidmarsh, the Officer in Charge of 1401 Squadron said; “I am so pleased to have five cadets from the Squadron selected to represent the Wing. It’s great to see cadets try new sports and discover their talents and with both Wing teams winning was a fantastic result. I hope this will spur other cadets from the squadron to attend wing trials in the future”.
