King’s Lynn Royal British Legion’s Service veterans were, on Saturday 24th October, accompanied by the town’s ‘next generation’ when Air Cadets from 42F (King’s Lynn) Squadron took part in the launch of this year’s Poppy Appeal.
Following the Union and British Legion Standards, they marched from the Legion club to the heart of the shopping centre where a vacant unit has been donated to the Legion until Remembrance Sunday, as a focal point for the club’s fund raising efforts.
Following a short speech from the Borough Mayor, Councillor Colin Manning, and a two minutes silence, cadets presented the Mayor and Mayoress with their poppies. Following this the ‘Poppy Shop’ was officially opened for the duration of the appeal.
With the Mayor now displaying his poppy it was time for the cadets to pin their own on and ‘Wear Them With Pride’.
