On Saturday 17th October, Air Cadets from 2195 (Long Eaton) Squadron, Air Training Corps, attended the walk past by the Walking with the Wounded Team.
The Walk of Britain involves six wounded ex-servicemen and women walking from Scotland to London. It started on 22nd August and covers the length and breadth of the British Isles. The trek is expected to end at Buckingham Palace on 1st November.
The cadets met outside the town hall in Long Eaton for 0930 hours and awaited the teams arrival.
The cadets applauded as the Walking with the Wounded team arrived. The cadets were pleased to have the opportunity to support the team and donate to the charity. One of the walkers spoke to the cadets telling them that they still had a long walk ahead of them and having support along the way encourages them to walk further.
Cadet Olivia Olsson said “It felt good knowing that us being there inspired them to keep on going.”
