Five air cadets from 863 (Thurston) Squadron, Air Training Corps, swam for the Norfolk and Suffolk area Wing team today at the Central and East Region swimming championships achieving medals in all their classes.
The air cadets travelled to RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire to compete against five other Wing teams from across the region
Corporal Megan Hood (17) and Cadet Moraine Pepper (16) put in a sterling effort and really pleased to win bronze medals in the medley relay after also competing in individual races.
Cadet Harry Welch’s (15) training paid off and was very proud to win bronze in the individual 100m medley and 50m butterfly.
Squadron swimming captain Corporal Ryan Tuthill (18) led the team win with two bronzes in freestyle and medley relays, while Chris Gwatkin (17) did well achieving bronze in freestyle relay, saying “it was nice to be part of a team in the relays”
The event was topped off with Corporal Bronwyn Jacobs (18) Thurston Air Cadet’s Sports Captain also winning the Region’s Sports Cadet of the year award.
