From the 4th – 6th September 2015 Cadet Sergeant Kathryn Towell from 1109 (Thetford) Squadron attend the Qualified Aerospace Instructor Cadet course selection weekend at RAF Linton-on-Ouse in North Yorkshire.
The process for Kathryn started some months ago which involved a successful application filter process by the selection team. There were in excess of 300 applications for 40 places across the Corps, and Kathryn was the only cadet from Norfolk and Suffolk Wing selected. This is a fantastic achievement and something which has not been achieved at 1109 squadron before.
The QAIC course provides aviation enthusiasts between 16-20 years the unique qualification to operate the latest technology held at the Regional Activity Centre’s and gives them an insight to working within the aviation industry.
The selection weekend involved leadership tests, Aerodynamic tests, flying and Air Traffic Control training and was an intense test of skills in all these areas. Success on this course means that Kathryn will undergo further training over the next seven months with an assessment weekend in 2016.
