Long Eaton Air Cadets Marching on at the Drill and Ceremonial Camp

A recent weekend saw air cadets from 2195 (Long Eaton) Squadron, attend a drill and ceremonial camp along with air cadets from 1360 (Stapleford and Sandiacre) and 126 (City of Derby) Squadrons. The weekend consisted of foot drill, banner drill, leadership exercises, a team building exercise and sport.
Throughout the weekend of the 25th – 27th September, a competition took place between the Alpha and Bravo Teams (Flights) of the camp. Both teams started the challenge competing in an inter-flight foot drill competition. Alpha Flight then took the lead winning the incredibly tiring, but fun, teambuilding exercise at 9:00pm Saturday night. The inter-flight competition also included some very wet leadership tasks and some brilliant sports competitions.
The final parade took place at 2:00pm, Sunday afternoon, at which point the winners of the inter-flight competition and best cadet were announced. The camp had shown cadets what the Air Training Corps represents: a family. It shows when Squadrons are put together they can work to form incredible experiences and memories, and achieve the unachievable.
Cadet Sophie Rowlett said “I had an amazing first camp, made lots of great friends and looks forward to putting her name down for many more camps to come. This is what we do, it is who we are: the best youth organisation. I can’t wait to see what the Air Training Corps has got for me in the future.”
