Regional Success for Norfolk & Suffolk Cadets


Air Cadets from Norfolk and Suffolk Wing ATC travelled to RAF Halton this weekend to take part in the annual Central & East Region Field Day Competition.N&S Photo 3 (1)
Cadets from Norfolk and Suffolk had a great day, competing against the five other Wings in the Region in shooting; first aid; drill; aircraft recognition; model making; band; media and photography.
Top awards were won by Sgt Walkinshaw, aged 16 from 188(Ipswich) Squadron, who took home the trophy for the Best Drill NCO in the Region, and by Flight Sergeant Willis, aged 19, from 759 (Beccles) Squadron who won the Best Young Adult in First Aid.
The Wing also came second in the adult and cadet written media competitions, second in the ‘Mystery Model Build’; third in First Aid, Media (overall),  Individual Shot and Individual Aircraft Recognition.
Commandant Air Cadets, Air Commodore Dawn McCafferty along with the Regional Commandant, Group Captain Nigel Gorman watched the proceedings unfold throughout the day, and presented the Awards on final Parade.
Following the final parade, Norfolk and Suffolk Wing Commander David Miller said “After the months of preparation it was great to see the Wing’s team spirit and pride shine through. Each individual elements representative delivered their best efforts, but as importantly they also demonstrated genuine interest and support for their fellow wing colleagues in the other events. It was a great day for us all.”
